Urine Collection Guidelines

Urine should be preserved with EDTA - recommended 1/10th volume of 0.5M EDTA (Final 50mM EDTA).

Boric acid or other preservatives have not been evaluated.

For cfDNA purification, we recommend centrifuging the urine to reduce cellular contamination. 3000xg for 20 minutes, then 12,000 xg for 10minutes is recommended.

Proteolytic pretreatment is recommended, especially when crosslinking agents (such as glutaraldehyde) are used. NGS Proteolytic pretreatment is recommended for storage at room temperature - alternatively the urine may be frozen at -80 C.
